The Third One Is The Charm
Practice makes perfect
This little gem was written for and is dedicated to Debbie Smith….my lucky charm.
The song arrived on December 10, 2022 while I was strumming around on my guitar. I tweaked a few lyrics and recorded this version at Mellow Yellow Sound in Gulfport, Florida on December 11, 2022. Using ProTools I started out with a rough track of guitar & vocal to lay out the structure of the tune. Then I redid the acoustic guitar and vocal on separate tracks, and finally added snare, bass, lap steel and some vocal harmony before mixing down.
INTRO:
VERSE 1:
My first wife was a strange one, she had me eatin’ lettuce and beans
Wore a bandana, and flannel shirts, with holes in her old blue jeans
My second wife was a wild one, soon enough she started to roam
I begged and I pleaded, but never succeeded, couldn’t talk her into stayin’ home
CHORUS 1:
The third one is the charm, right here on my arm
She makes me feel better, whenever we’re together
We’re so happy, down here on the farm
No more goin’ crazy….the Third One Is The Charm
REPEAT INTRO:
VERSE 2:
Now when I’m old and wrinkled, I’ll still love her so
She looks like the day I met her, a long long time ago
I’ll never forget her, it’s meant to be that way
She’s a hot date, she’s my soul mate, & this is all I’ll say
CHORUS 2:
The third one is the charm, right here on my arm
She makes me feel younger, and satisfies the hunger
We’re so happy, down here on the farm
No more goin’ crazy….the Third One Is The Charm
We’re so happy, down here on the farm
Away from city lights….the Third One Is The Charm
REPEAT INTRO AS ENDING
